I went for a run, just did a single mile…and it was horrible! Seriously. I feel great now, but while I was running, all I could think about was sitting on my couch with a laptop in my lap and something awesome on TV.
But I went, and that’s the most important thing. I got off my bum, laced up my Altras, and ran for nine minutes and nine seconds. Then I came inside, put on my Superman jammies, and went to town on this podcast.
And you know why? Because I work hard at keeping myself motivated. And yeah, that’s work. Especially when it gets to this point in setting up a new habit. It’s been 5 days, and this is the point where it’s easy to quit.
So. I want to help you stay motivated by telling you how I do it and sharing all of this awesome with you! How magnanimous, right? I know! Thanks!
Basically, what I do is surround myself with running. I read, watch, and listen running. Here are some of my favorites:
- Happier with Gretchen Rubin
- 10% Happier with Dan Harris
- Runner’s World magazine
- Like the Wind magazine
- My Life on the Run by Bart Yasso
- Ultramarathon Man by Dean Karnazes
- Chicken Soup for the Runner’s Soul (yes, seriously)
- Born to Run by Christopher McDougall
- Spirit of the Marathon
- Desert Runners
- Be A Healthy Geek
- The Mighty Jerd
- SideQuestFM
- Dumbbells and Dragons
- #runchat
- #bibchat
And then of course, there’s you guys. Y’all keep me moving. Your emails and tweets and messages just keep me going and motivated even when I don’t wanna move an inch. So thank you. I hope I can do the same for you.
Alright. It’s jammie/TV time. See you tomorrow, fitgeeks![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
